Adhyaathma is the humble initiative to lay the foundation in integrating creative Performing arts under one roof. Adhyaathma school of performing Arts is the vision of Aacharya Smt.Ramya Shankaran, driven through Passion and realizing Art is the life sole purpose.
Adhyaathma – “The first expression of our AATHMA”. Adhyaathma envisions – “When we surrender our self to the Divine Art form, the art itself will bloom our inner self like a flower.
Adhyaathma is dedicated bring understanding and appreciating the rich Indian cultural dance heritage to the upcoming generation, strictly upholding excellence through innovation. Adhyaathma is following the traditional Gurukul learning system.

Founder & instructor
Ramya Shankaran, an accomplished Bharatanatyam and Mohiniyattam artist, choreographer, and teacher, brings over 30 years of expertise, blending tradition with contemporary relevance. With a deep-rooted passion for classical dance, Ramya has trained under prestigious Gurus and holds a Master’s degree in Bharatanatyam. Her artistry not only honors the grace and discipline of these ancient dance forms but also incorporates modern ideas, making them relevant in today’s world. Through her innovative performances, workshops, and teachings, Ramya inspires dancers to explore their artistic potential while bridging tradition with contemporary expression. Categories & Levels
At Adhyaathma our classes are classified into Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced. The Syllabus for each category will be discussed in detail upon registration.
Beginner
Level (1-2) Beginner
We will mold up the kid for dancing. Starting with basic adavus, move on to slokas. Upon completion students will receive a “certificate”
Intermediate
Level (3-4) Intermediate
Students will focus more on higher-level adavus, Technical information ,Theories and one song to perform. Upon completion students will receive a “certificate”
Advanced
Level (5-6) Advanced
Complete margam will be taught with perfectly sculpted adavus, they will get to learn the theories of dance.Upon completion students will receive a “certificate”

I joined Ramya mam's classes because I had a childhood dream to learn Bharatnatyam. She is a very well skilled instructor, who is deeply passionate about dance. Her love and dedication for her craft is evident in her performances and in the recent book she wrote combining her two loves - dance and architecture. In fact, I had joined after I saw a few of her performances on youtube. The best part is that I have never felt out of place even in a room full of young kids learning the dance, as she knows how to make her students understand the basics despite the age group they belong to.
