About Ramya Shankaran

Smt.Ramya Shankaran, the artistic director of Adhyaathma School of Performing Arts is a Bharatanatyam and Mohiniyattam performer and teacher. She holds a Master’s degree in Bharatanatyam and a Diploma degree in Mohiniyattam.

Ramya Shankaran’s journey in Bharatanatyam commenced at the very young age of four under the tutelage of Guru Sunitha and Guru Marie Stella from Kalaikaveri School of Fine Arts, Trichy, India. At the age of twelve, Ramya came under the guidance of Guru Madhavi Chandra Sekar in Trichy, India.

She started to learn the “Mohiniyattam” classical art form of Kerala under the guidance of Kalamandalam Guru Kumari Menon for four years. She got the privilege of learning and interacting with extraordinary Bharatanatyam choreographer, teacher, and legend Prof.C.V .Chandrasekar, who elevated her Art to the next level. She is also taking her particular nuances training under Aacharya Renjith Babu and Vijna Vasudevan and Guru Smt. Supriya Ravikumar. Ramya has been awarded the titles “Natya Shree Mala”, “Naadam Kalabhooshan”, “Nrithya Vilasini”. She also received “Bharat Gaurav Samman 2019” from Sanskriti Bharath, New Delhi. As an Author, Ramya Shankaran have also published a book “Mapping of Spaces through Bharatanatyam Sequences” in the year 2019.
